1790 Society

Boy with wheelbarrow 400 x 600We are indebted to a select group of individuals who have made significant financial contributions to ensure the long-term sustainability of Coggeshall Farm Museum.

Generations from now, children and families will benefit from these contributions which helped to create a strong organization ready to withstand the test of time.

The 1790 Society honors individuals who have contributed $1,000 or more in a single year through a donation, donor-advised fund, IRA Rollover, stock gift or other financial donation. All members of the 1790 Society receive Lifetime Membership to Coggeshall Farm Museum and are honored and remembered at our annual meeting in June.

IRA Rollover: A Tax-Free Giving Opportunity

Taxpayers age 70½ and older are required to take annual distributions from their IRAs, which then are included in their adjusted gross income and subject to tax. The IRA charitable rollover permits taxpayers to make donations directly to charitable organizations from their IRAs without counting them as part of their AGI. This rollover distribution counts toward the required minimum distribution for IRA holders.

To make a gift to Coggeshall Farm Museum using the IRA charitable rollover:

  • Contact your IRA administrator and authorize them to send a check from your IRA directly to Coggeshall Farm Museum.
  • Ask your IRA trustee or administrator to clearly reveal this is an IRA rollover provision for a specific tax year and identify you as the IRA account owner.
  • If desired, have your administrator include how Coggeshall Farm Museum is to use your IRA gift (eg., Greatest Need, Sponsor a School).
  • Send your IRA Charitable Rollover gift to: Coggeshall Farm Museum, 1 Colt Drive, Bristol, RI 02809.

Thank you!

If you have any questions about how you can become a member of the 1790 Society, please email Board Member Cindy Elder or call her at 401-253-9062. Thank you.
