Gardens

The Garden at Coggeshall Farm is full of historic plant varieties like flax, squashes, turnips, onions, beets and more. Each year staff at Coggeshall are working closely with horticulture staff at Old Sturbridge Village as well to develop a garden that showcases both what might have been grown there historically and that shows the variety of food culture in that time. 

This year we are also  expanding our garden by experimenting with some field crops like RI white cap flint corn, rye and heirloom pumpkins. We are testing out different methods for reducing the competition with the wildlife on the farm. Come by the farm to see what’s new in the gardens.
