All it takes to turn fabric into custom-fitted magic is a needle, thread, and practice. In this program, you will learn basic skills that help with all kinds of sewing, from “darning” torn clothing to “embroidering” beautiful decorations. Try your hand at an age-old craft, and create your own adorable stuffed sheep.

Fire Starting (Ages 10+) | Sign Up

Fire was an essential part of everyday life in the 18th century.   Without it, we wouldn’t be able to cook our food, wash our clothes, or more. Come to the farm to learn about the essential skill of fire-starting. Once we’ve mastered the basics, we’ll celebrate with a fire-cooked snack – S’MORES!

Session 2: 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. ($12 per participant)

Corn to be Wild (Ages 4+) | Sign Up

Many of the plants on our farm come from Europe because the settlers brought plants they knew, but corn has been here all along. It can be used in many ways. You can eat it off the cob, turn it into sugar, or grind it into flour. Come learn about the corn we grow here, and how to turn it into tasty snacks.

Cider (Ages 7 – 9) | Sign Up

Did you know that apple cider was the most popular beverage in 18th century America? It’s true! The average American at the time would drink about 10 ounces of cider a day; that’s almost 30 gallons a year! In this class, we will learn how to make our very own mulled cider on an open fire, just in time for the fall.

Harvest and Storage (Ages 10+) | Sign Up

Help us harvest some of our fall crops.  Root crops and beans were an important part of preparing for winter when families relied on stored food.  Learn about some of the different techniques for preserving your garden bounty.
