Coggeshall Farm Museum in Bristol, RI
Join Coggeshall Farm for their November Homeschool Day! Our Homeschool Days have a rotating series of programs, workshops, and self-guided activities geared for ages 4+ that bring the historic world to life.
Things to know:
- Coggeshall Farm Museum will be closed to the public on this day except for participating homeschoolers. Your child must be registered for at least one workshop to attend.
- Classes are $10 per homeschooler and admission for accompanying grownups is free.
- Pre-registration is required for all activities listed below.
- These are not drop-in programs and our staff will have a list of registrants for each workshop.
- Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel your workshop tickets. There is a high demand for these workshops and we would like to be able to offer spots to other participants. You can contact us at coggeshalled@osv.org.
- Students’ guardians must stay in close proximity of the program location for the entire duration of the activity for safety reasons.

Morning Classes
Leaf Peeps | Ages 4+ | 11 AM
Fall is here on the farm! Learn about the changing of seasons, go on a leaf peeping walk, and create a work of art inspired by the last leaves of the season.
Colonial Games | Ages 7+ | 11 AM
Kids of the past were constantly inventing new ways to play, especially in an era with limited toys. Warm up with a series of historic games, races, sports, and activities designed to get the blood moving, invented for kids by kids!
Candle Holders | Ages 7+ | 11 AM
Nights are getting longer and darker. Create your own candleholder in our historic woodshop to light the dark nights.
Kite Making | Ages 9+ | 11 AM
Kids and adults alike have been flying kites for over 2000 years. Take advantage of the fall breeze and build Ben Franklin’s classic experiment—minus the lightning!
Hearth Cooking: Gingerbread Cookies | Ages 9+ | 11 AM
‘Tis the season for the warm flavors that remind us of home. Bake a classic colonial gingerbread cookie recipe over our historic 18th-century hearth.
Afternoon Classes
Grateful Kids | Ages 4+ | 1 PM
It’s the season of gratitude. Read a story, create a “Thankful stick” and celebrate all the things in our world we have to be grateful for in the class designed for our youngest friends.
Habitat Hike | Ages 7+ | 1 PM
Explore our trails and habitats on this guided nature tour that leads kids through the many amazing ecosystems we have right here on our own farm.
Hearth Cooking: Apples Galore! | Ages 7+ | 1 PM
Warm up by brewing historic apple cider over the hearth, creating a dried apple garland, and creating a sweet-smelling apple decoration for your holiday table!
Whittle This! | Ages 9+ | 1 PM
Learn a new skill and practice whittling in our historic woodshop. Create a simple bird to display on your table, give as a gift, or use as a holiday ornament!
Bookbinding | Ages 10+ | 1 PM
Learn three types of handmade bookbinding from all different times and cultures—T Books, accordion books, and Japanese stab binding!
